Many artists have done their best to present many forms of discrimination. Like the author of Black Boy, Richard Wright, through his explicit formation of sentences, explained how African-American issues dominated his life as the book represents his fictionalized autobiography (Al-Subari, 2020). Various metaphors and symbols can be interpreted within the novel itself.
The first passage of the novel contains the life introduction of Wright, who is symbolized in the novel as the narrator who addresses himself as I, my, me, and more. The character itself serves as an excellent symbol for discrimination in all aspects. This implies how the character could be represented differently and can be identified as a figure depending on the interpretation itself.
