How to Read Literature Like a Professor

This week we are going to delve in the book, How to Read Literature Like a Professor”. One of my favorite chapters in this book is chapter 2 which talks about the acts of communion. Remember, an author (or script writer) is not going to include an eating scene unless it is of the utmost importance. It gives the author the opportunity to reveal something about the characters and their relationship to each other. This week I want you to choose an eating scene, from a book or movie, you think is particularly important or significant to one’s understanding of the overall story. Briefly give some background on the scene and then apply the ideas of Chapter 2 to this depiction. Focus on the significance of this particular scene and how it contributes to our understanding of the work as a whole. (225 words)
