In his article Hidden Intellectuals, Gerald Graff presents an interesting account of what he believes is wrong with the current education system. To him, it makes little sense to force students to study and memorize themes in Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Graff believes that schools often miss the point because of their rigid nature. He unashamedly notes that an educated life is often associated with texts that exhume or that exhibit a complex way of life or thinking. On the other hand, people shun relatable topics like cars, fashion, games, dating, and TV. In the end, an educated mind ends up being skewed towards a pre-determined future.
