1. Here we are, about to enter "Pandemic Thanksgiving." Let's take a step back and think about what is important to us about Thanksgiving. Knowing what we now know from Foer, how would you redesign Thanksgiving to truly capture what you want it to capture? No, I'm not trying to ruin your Thanksgivings, but sometimes we get trapped in traditions that don't really end up representing what we want them to represent. Put your critical thinking and creativity hats on and come up with a better model. What would it look like?

Thanksgiving is for many in America, the most important event of the year. It is when all people in a family come together, eat together and reminisce on the good old times. For some, Thanksgiving is a dreaded event since they do not have stable families or may not have been brought up in stable families. Foer makes a compelling argument for why turkey-eating on Thanksgiving is cruel. To an extent, I agree with him. Several of us who participate in the compulsive eating associated with Thanksgiving could not skewer a rabbit leave alone a turkey. It, is, therefore, important to recognize the value of turkeys as animals.
