Alice has a large text file. She wants to apply two operations to the file: compression (zip), and AES encryption. Please answer: which operation should she apply to the file first?
To answer this question, I will need you to do two steps:
(1) Generate (or download) a large text file. Locate two software: one for AES encryption and one for compression. Now to the same source file, you apply the two operations in different orders. At the end, you will get two result files: one is encrypted then zipped, and the other is zipped then encrypted. Now write down the file size of all five files: the original file, two intermediate files, and two final result files. Which result file is smaller?
(2) Please explain why the zipped-then-encrypted file is smaller in size. We do not restrict you to any specific software. But in my experiment, I use 7-zip and AEScrypt, both of which are free.

I file I chose is Asian American Feminist Antibodies Asian American Feminist Antibodies {care in the time of coronavirus}. The size of the original file is 43.26Mb. Conversely, after compressing the file using the WinRar software, the size reduced to 32.96Mb. After compressing the file, I encrypted the file using the AES software and realized that there was a reduction in size by 12.64Mb, making the intermediate file to be 30.62Mb.
I later encrypted the intermediate file and zipped it, which led to a reduction in size to 30.06Mb. Besides, I zipped the then encrypted file and noticed a difference in size to 29.68Mb. The difference in sizes is an attribute of the software used to conduct the analysis. The original-zipped- encrypted is smaller. The reduction is size eman...
