Yes, it is.
The Catholic teaching appears to encompass more than religious teaching as it constantly reiterates and emphasizes the dignity of the human person. By casting more light on the importance of the human person, the Catholic teaching is making clear to those in business that human resource is the most important aspect of any business. So, by understanding the underlying lessons within the Catholic teaching, one can confidently enhance their business endeavor.
What is the foundational principle of Catholic social doctrine?
As per the Rerum Novarum, the foundational principle of Catholic social doctrine is the dignity of the human person. As per this document, man’s dignity comes from him being created in the image and likeness of God. So, compared to other earthly creatures, man ought to be highly esteemed. It should be noted that man is also free to do as he pleases. What this means is that he has free will and can thus choose to serve God or money or his fellow man.
Do the principles of Catholic social teaching apply only to Catholics?
No. These principles appear to resonate well with life in general. By this, I mean that these principles can be used by any person regardless of denomination.
How do we implement these principles when working with non-Catholics?
By introducing them as general principles of life and work.
When it comes to religion and denominations, people tend to be defensive of their churches. Catholics, for example, often find themselves defending the doctrines of the Catholic Church.
