Day of the Dead Calavera

Directions: This assignment has two parts - 1. Creating the Calavera. 2. Write about it.

Review CH 02 section on balance, and pattern. Your task is to design a Calavera in the Day of the Dead tradition using these elements and principles of design. Google “Day of the Dead skulls” for inspiration.

The twist for this assignment is to choose one of the following art movements to draw additional inspiration from. You will need to research the art movement and be familiar with the design elements and principles they rely heavily on.

Media: You may use any media (color pencils, pen, paint, etc). Scan your finished design or take a high quality picture to submit this assignment. Do not print a template skull and color it in. Draw your skull with your own skills.





Write: Include a one paragraph description of what you learned from your research on the art movement and how you incorporated it into your design.
