The People’s Party is also referred to as the Populist Part and it was one of the most essential political parties in the United States during the late nineteenth century. The People’s Part was established in the early 1980s. The party originated in Kansas and it swiftly spread to other parts of the United States. It is also important to note that the party mainly comprised of farmers who were not pleased by the Democratic and Republican Parties and they held the view that the federal government ought to be active in the American economy by implementing policies to regulate various sectors such as the railroads.
In the late 1870s, the farmers were greatly impacted by industrialization. The growth of markets and the development of technologies resulted in reduced commodity prices. Additionally, commercialization of agriculture significantly impacted the farmers as they were left in the hands of the intermediaries and bankers.
