The article by Kruse and Beane (2018) is a systematic review tailored to establish the role of health information technology (HIT) in influencing medical outcomes. In other words, the researchers aimed to evaluate relevant existing studies to determine the role of health information systems on medical outcomes. The research findings indicated that using HIT in healthcare settings led to better medical outcomes. The study results align with previous scholarly works that established medical outcomes improvements following the use of HIT, including efficiency, quality, as well as provider satisfaction (Buntin et al., 2011; Chaudhry et al., 2006). Healthcare organizations have noted health information systems’ efficacy in enhancing efficiency and quality in care delivery processes (Kruse & Beane, 2018). Therefore, healthcare information systems are central to transforming the medical industry.
