Hello Pere, and thank you for your informative post on the importance of the office of public safety in institutions of higher education. I agree that prompt communication is necessary to avoid the last-minute rush, which would bring fatalities. According to Crawford et al. (2020), most institutions of higher learning take much time before deciding on serious matters due to the bureaucratic nature of their administration. That would be detrimental to all the learners and staff if a pandemic was to strike and the administration took forever to decide on the best move. For instance, in the case of the COVID-19 pandemic, if institutions had not made decisions in time, students would have suffered more as they tried to seek safety. We have other serious outbreaks, such as Cholera which also spreads rapidly and affects people concentrated in one area.
