1. E's Post:

There are many shifts that take place between the age of five and seven, children in this stage of life experience changes in the brain which helps physical development as well as develops better reasoning and a more thorough thought process.2. The differences between preschoolers and school age children are that children in preschool are starting to learn how to think symbolically about things around them and the world they live in. As far as school age children they are able to understand the past present as well as the future and gain the ability to set goals and work towards them.3 If a child during the preschool stage doesn’t acquire all the necessary cognitive skills they may not be ready for school because they lack the ability to be logical, organized and deal with concrete inforemaition.4 At the end of the concrete operational stage the child has gained many new cognitive skills that increase the understand of the physical world and according to Piaget they still cannot think in abstract ways or systematic scientific ways.5 Without a good set of cognitive skills students may fall behind or move at a slower pace than other student, student see improvements in working memory and their ability to pay attention and can use memory strategies to their benefits such as creating rhymes or inventing acronyms ether way children at this stage to help them learn better. Critical thinking is a strategy that not only helps the children make informed decisions. Ennis (1987) believed analyzing arguments, clarifying information, judging the creditable source, making value judgments and deciding action are cognitive skills needed to be successful at critical thinking. 2. Et's Post:

Children who enter the age range of five to seven are on the road to becoming more open to education and being educated. “Children worldwide become much more educable once they have passed through the five to seven shift.” (Concrete Operations) So, before passing ages five through seven, you are on the way to being more educable. Children ages 3-5 do not see the world the same way older people do compared to 7-11. When you are between the ages 3-5 you are so dependent on others taking care of you and watching over you but then when you start to reach ages 7-11 you start to see a new aspect of the world that causes you to want to learn more. Although going through a shift like this might not make you ready for school, you were so used to walking freely, not really paying attention to the educational side. “Children between ages seven and eleven begin to understand certain logical principles when they are applied to concrete situations.” (Concrete Operations) So when you are suddenly able have a shift it may make it seem harder for you to go to school because you went from one shift to another. “Peer groups are the most influential system in the growth of self-esteem in school age children.” (Concrete Operations) Certain peer groups can influence one's cognitive abilities especially since it is at the end of the child's concrete operational stage.

Hello E. Your analysis of children's development between ages five and seven is outstanding. For instance, you have explained that the difference between the two ages is that when the child is at preschool age, the child is learning things symbolically, while at school age, the child has to develop the ability to set and work on the goals. This process is evident because when the child is at preschool, the parents usually bring objects that the child can learn from since many children mainly use visuals to unders
