Challenges to Achieving SDG Health Targets

1.  Describe ONE priority challenge for achieving ONE of the SDG’s health targets at global level.

The aim of Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3) is to ensure that the global population can live a healthy life with their well-being promoted. As such, target 3.8 aims to achieve universal health coverage for all people. This can be achieved by enabling access to quality healthcare and affordable medicines for all (World Health Organization, 2023).  However, a priority challenge to achieving this target is the need for global equalization with regard to healthcare and the concerned policies. The huge disparities in developed and developing countries make it impossible to enable effective access to basic services for treatment and medicine to all. Additionally, developing countries continue to face the burden of non-communicable diseases, including heart disease, cancer, and diabetes (World Health Organization, 2023). More so, this is compounded by the limited human resources required to deal with the immense number of patients in health institutions.
