Why? The population that I am focusing on are children who have Autism Spectrum Disorder and are in work centers and client homes. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that is characterized by a vast range of problems relating to social interactions, like communication and repetitive behaviors (CDC, n.d.). Because it is in a spectrum, the symptoms may vary widely but are still under the spectrum of ASD. Children who have been diagnosed with ASD can become a great medium to study ASD because their brains are still growing. Also, repetitive actions and social interaction problems can still be corrected at a young age. Moreover, some children who receive an early diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) may have a reduction in symptoms as they age. Additional investigation might aid scientists in comprehending this shift and paving the path for more successful therapies (NIH, 2013). With that said, researching kids with ASD offers insights into the basic elements of human communication and social interaction.
