Motivation at Work
My job design as a firm supervisor setting goals for deadlines and performance ensures compliance with the company’s vision and plan. I am also tasked with organizing workflow and ensuring that workers understand their delegated duties. Monitoring employees’ productivity and offering coaching and constructive feedback also describe part of my job design. In that vein, the quality of exchange relationships between organizational members and the supervisor via the leader-member exchange construct positively relates to the various idiosyncratic ideals’ successful negation. An opportunity within the organization has emerged that would enable me to use the idiosyncratic deals (I-deals) to redesign my job. To make my job more motivating, I would design customized negotiated arrangements that offer workers career support, enriched opportunities, and skills to expand individual competencies inclined to pursue career development (Liao, Wayne, & Rousseau, 2016).
