Existing organizational chart for PetMed Express The numbers represent the following positions or functions in the company: 1. Chief Executive Officer 2. Chairman of the Board 3. Director 4. Director 5. Director 6. Director 7. Director 8. Chief Finance Officer 9. Marketing 10. Human Resources Operations 11. Chief Technology and Information Officer 12. Procurement 13. Financial Planning and Analysis 14. Customer Care 15. Performance Marketing 16. Information Technology The existing organizational chart or structure delineates the relationships between operating processes and people geared at achieving the firm's shared goals. It describes the duties and how departments coordinate to ensure the company runs seamlessly (Löfgren & Eklund, 2021). The diagram above delineates the existing organizational chart for PetMed Express. The board of directors comprises the chief executive officer, Mathew Hulett; chairman of the board, Gian Fulgoni; independent director, Leslie Campbell; director Sandra Campos; director Peter Cobb; independent director Dian Purcel; and director, Jodi Watson. The chief finance officer (CFO), chief marketing officer (CMO), chief technology and information officer, and vice president of people operations report to the board of directors. The purchasing and financial planning and analysis directors are expected to report to the CFO, Christine Chambers. The customer care director and head of performance marketing report to the CMO. Lastly, the director of information technology reports to the chief technology and information officer. Overall, the current organizational chart for PetMed Express needs improvement because it does not capture all the strategic areas of the company's business operations. PetMed Express's business comprises sales channels, growth strategy, recent development and strategic transactions, products, and services, marketing, customers, operations, technology, competition, intellectual property, etc. (PetMed Express, Inc., 2023). A comprehensive organizational structure must capture the executives responsible for leading the above strategic business interests. Proposed Organizational Chart In addition to the positions mentioned above, the proposed organizational chart incorporates the following functions. 17. Product development 18. Operations director 19. Head of human capital resources 20. Public relations head. Product development reports to the CMO. Product development is important to incorporate into the revised organizational chart because PetMed Express offers a wide range of products and services for horses, cats, and dogs. With the increased emphasis on ethical principles when delivering products into the market, the product development function proves increasingly crucial in ensuring the products and services improvements are based on credible research. This would also ensure that the products and services align with current market needs. The operations director would also be reporting to the CMO. Operations constitute a vital part of PetMed Express's business. The operations director would review, analyze, and evaluate company procedures, including customer care and support, order processing, purchasing and supply of products, and warehousing and shipping (PetMed Express, Inc., 2023). The ability to concurrently execute the areas mentioned above would guarantee seamless routine operations, thus guaranteeing the achievement of both short- and long-term targets. The head of human capital resources would report to the vice president of people operations. It is an important function to incorporate into the existing organizational chart because people are the most valuable resource for the company. The head of human capital resources will help harness the diverse individual differences, inventiveness, self-expression, knowledge, life experiences, talent, and unique capabilities to build a shared culture and commitment to achieving the company objectives. Human capital is a strategic priority for PetMed Express's board of directors and executives and thus requires additional functional areas to identify and develop talent for long-term success. Lastly, the proposed organizational chart includes the public relations head reporting to the CMO (PetMed Express, Inc., 2023). The head of public relations would help create a good corporate image in the industry, which is an important asset for the company's sustainability. References Löfgren, V., & Eklund, A. (2021).
