Quantitative and qualitative research varies in some ways. Quantitative research aims to prove or disapprove a research hypothesis by establishing whether it is null or alternative. In contrast, qualitative research seeks to understand human behavior and mind by observing one’s behavior, experiences, and emotions (Enjay & Maica, qualitative &quantitative, 2021). The two differ in data description, whereby quantitative research uses numbers to describe data. In contrast, qualitative research uses words to describe or offer information on the study by narrating and describing people’s lives under observation. In selecting a sample size, quantitative research uses large samples of about 20-100, while qualitative research employs limited samples based on what the research is determining (Enjay & Maica, qualitative &quantitative, 2021).  The two also differ in the methods of gathering data, whereby quantitative research employs survey questionnaires or checklists that are standardized and structured and make use of close-ended questions. Qualitative research, on the other hand, uses open-ended questions, which may be structured or unstructured, or interviews, immersions, and group discussions (Enjay & Maica, qualitative &quantitative, 2021). In data analysis, quantitative research utilizes statistical tools, instruments, and treatments such as Pearson’s r and percentile deviation. In contrast, qualitative research utilizes thematic analysis, determining the themes and categorization of participants' responses. Research outcomes in qualitative research use the words’ new insights gained,' which points to the research having nurtured a higher validity of understanding of the human mind.
