Across history, the idea of reality (what is real and what is not accurate) has been the main cause of philosophical and theoretical debates. Plato, for instance, believed that actual reality is not found through the senses. On the other hand, Aristotle thought that senses were necessary for properly determining reality. Today, in the era of information, the idea of what reality is requires even more interrogation and debate. Some schools of thought argue that reality is a social construct (Vera, 2016), while others presume reality is a linguistic construct (Grace, 2018). Aside from these schools of thought, another worldview that has tested time is the Biblical one. The current pair compares socially- and linguistically-constructed perceptions of reality and interrogates how they relate to the Biblical worldview.

A social construct is an idea that has been created and accepted by the people in a society. For instance, different societies worldwide have a class distinction, a phenomenon continually enhanced through government and social institutions in which some sections of the population have access to opportunities and protection under the law compared to others.
