1 What is art?
A work of art is an engaging visual experience, emotion or idea, but art broadly covers dance, music, literature, theater, and the visual arts that are expressions of creative imaginations.
2 What are the key traits that define creativity?
"Creativity is the ability to bring forth something new that has value"
* Associating- Making connections across seemingly unrelated fields.
* Questioning- Evaluating how things work and why, while challenging the status quo things and embracing change.
* Observing- Watching and studying the surroundings objectively to gain new insights or ways of operating.
* Networking- Willingness to interact and associate with others, and learn from them, even if they have different viewpoints and outlooks.
* Experimenting. Investigating and evaluating new possibilities trying them out and making changes that are an improvement
3 What are some ways that art relates to reality?
Representational, abstract, nonrepresentational
* Representational- This depicts the appearance of things that are easily recognizable from the environment and experience.
* Abstract-There is lack of essence and a clear identity in an object or idea of art. Abstract art can not reference any naturally occurring object, or may reference a natural object, but exonerate, simplify or distort the object.
* Non representational art- The visual forms lack representation and reference to any other thing.
4 What is the difference between looking and seeing?
Looking is the physical act of focusing on a certain object while seeing is the mental perception of an object based on what one is looking at, and how they recognize, connect the information and create meaning.

2. What separates commentary from self-expression in art?
Commentary art is communication between the artist and the audience and focuses on a specific subject matter, while self-expression communicates information on feelings, worldviews, thoughts emotions or personality
3. What needs does commemorative art meet?
This is an art form that is part of a memorial or remembrance of a person or past event. Some public acts are commemorative and honor public figures and patriotic actions/ Benjamin West's 1770 painting The Death of General Wolfe commemorates the 1759 Battle of Quebec, where the British defeated the French.
