Course Blog Discussion & Engagement Assignment Overview

The blog discussion assignments are based on the content assigned for each module. You are expected to read and/or watch the material and then contribute your reflective response. Late submissions will NOT be permitted, so pay attention to the dates below.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this assignment you should be able to:

Consider key themes related to human information behaviour.

Compare thoughts with classmates via an online discussion forum.

Blog Post Requirements:

For each blog post your job will be to actively contribute to your blog. In preparation for the discussion, you will need to review the items in the resource list within each module. Provide a thoughtful primary response demonstrating you have read/watched the resources for the module.

Review the Blog Assignment rubric.

Carefully review course resources for the module.

Create an individual blog post on your Course Blog. Each blog should be titled with the appropriate “Module #”

Identify and explore a minimum of two themes. Reflect on these themes in relation to your personal life experience and/or current events

You can respond in any of the following ways:

Written response: 250-500 words

Video response: 1.5 - 2.5 minutes

Audio response: 1.5 2.5 minutes

Be sure to use a minimum of two of the course resources from the appropriate module to support your reflection and cite your sources correctly using APA style.

Students are encouraged to include additional resources if relevant

Don’t forget to cite all resources you use in your blog post in APA style

Engagement:

Additionally, you will be expected to provide at least two (2) additional engaged and thoughtful comments/questions in response to another person’s post or in response to a follow-up comment by the engagement due date. The conversation will be much easier if you participate early (and often).

Grading

The blog posts and engagement will be worth 25% of your final grade in this course. 15% is based on your individual posts and 10% is based on your engagement with your peers. Your 3 best marks will be counted towards your final grade.
