Goods were transported in camel caravans which traversed the dangerous deserts and oases of central Asia. throughout this period, the silk road was the major route network which was formally established during the Han dynasty of china and linked the regions of ancient world between the period 130BCE to around 1453 CE. caravans were used in the desert areas and all through the Silk Road as travelling in groups was considered the safest way to cover against bandits as well as leverage from economies of scale. goods were tied on camels and were transported far and wide making it possible to access some of the least accessible areas.
