Unit 2 HW: Political Party Comparison

In approximately 300 words (not less than 275 and not more than 350), create a short 2-3 paragraph response that compares one element of both the Texas State Republican and Texas State Democrat party platforms. For example, what is their difference on military preparedness or environmental policy. (That's just too easy!) Make sure you READ the specific elements of the platforms. The point of the assignment is that you find out what the official position of each party is and WHY! The objective of the assignment is for you to dig deeper into why each party supports or opposes certain policy issues. Don't just take what you THINK you know or what you hear/read on the news or somewhere else online. Note: Do NOT use either party's opposition statements as parts of your comparison. This assignment requires that you be CONCISE in your approach to the comparison. You will be graded on thoroughness and objectiveness. I should not be able to tell which side of the argument you take. You are not trying to persuade me; just inform me with the facts. No points will be awarded for this assignment if the platforms are not used. References specific statements from the platforms, but do not copy/paste or include long quotes. Do not use any other outside sources except the parties' platforms. Also, make sure to use the state-level party platforms (linked above). Don't use the national party platforms. ***I used to have this assignment as a "blog," so you might see it referred to that way in a few places. It is just a stand-alone assignment now. Just type up your response in a Word document according to the instructions above and submit as you would any other writing-type assignment.
