Similarities
The place that I would liken the 17th century Coffee House in today's society is golf clubs. There are some similarities between today's golf clubs and the 17th-century coffee house. The first similarity is the way that golf courses are structured. Membership fees are aimed at maintaining the facilities, but they also regulate the kind of people who use the golf clubs. High-end clubs charge high fees, which few individuals can afford. As a result, only a few members of the population, especially from the wealthy class, can afford the facility. Like the golf clubs, the coffee houses of the 17th century were also situated in different neighborhoods, which determined the kind of people that went to those places (Green, 2013).
