Transformational leaders create a caring team by encouraging their followers to explore creativity and learn new opportunities. They do this by providing support to individual followers through open communication channels and encouraging followers to share ideas. They also offer inspirational motivation through a clear vision which they manage to articulate to their followers. These leaders have the potential to assist their followers experience a similar passion for their vision and offer motivation to achieve the set goals. Finally, they create a caring team by becoming a role model by building trust and respect with their followers (Weberg, 2010).
As an emerging nursing leader, one can address health disparities by encouraging the staff members or nurses to improve the quality of care they provide. The nurse leader can ensure that all nurses provide the right care to patients all the time to eliminate inequality in healthcare. The nurse leader can raise public, as well as providing awareness on issues such as racial or ethnic disparities. This means creating programs that talk about racial disparities and encourage supportive care for all cultures. Further, the nurse leader can focus on encouraging nurses from minority groups or putting them in leadership roles (Bednarz, Schim & Doorenbos, 2010). Additionally, the nurse leader can collaborate with healthcare reformers to promote more research and programs that encourage elimination of healthcare disparities.
In essence, embracing cultural diversity in the nursing profession promotes the general quality of care provided. This is because as nurses comes from different ethnic groups, social economic backgrounds, and sexual orientation among others, they interact with patients of a similar nature. Further, diversity creates an environment that allows the sharing of a wealth of knowledge and ideas that help address patient problems from different backgrounds. In reality, cultural diversity assists in addressing problems or racial and ethnic differences to create an environment of appreciation of other cultures (Bednarz, Schim & Doorenbos, 2010).

The competencies of a successful modern leader involve a person that inspires and motivates others. This means a leader that creates a compelling vision about the future and manages to motivate employees to pursue and achieve this vision. Successful leaders also have the capability to solve problems, as well as analyze issues because they take roles that involve training, handling problems, and seeking opportunities in the market place. Communication is also key for a successful leader and it involves regular and open communication. This builds an environment of understanding and getting feedback from the employees easily. Modern successful leaders also build relationships that are based on mutual trust with their followers. Without such a relationship, it becomes difficult to connect with employees and understand their expectations. Further, such a leader need to be innovative in creating new ideas that benefit the organization (Adair, 2011).
In my opinion, a successful leader ought to have honesty and integrity such that they do what they promise. People tend to believe in people who are truthful and straightforward in what they pursue. My leadership goals are creating positive motivation for those working within the organization. In this way, having a vision and creating an environment of trust can ensure inspiration, teamwork, and success (Adair, 2011).
Creativity and innovation is the most important competence for a leader in a complex organization.
