They are equipped with knowledge and leadership competencies. This paper examines the areas that contribute to transforming a nurse into a leader in the healthcare setting. The paper reflects on personal experience, leadership styles, leadership competencies, and strategies for becoming a nurse leader.  Personal Leadership Experience Formal and Informal Leadership Roles One of my formal leadership roles was to lead a nursing team during critical patient care situations both in the ER and in the trauma unit. I used my communication and relationship-building skills to grab as much information as I could during the arrival of the critical patient. Secondly, I used my healthcare knowledge to initiate primary interventions and avoid critical situations. During such acts, I am responsible for the patient and the nursing team's actions. Therefore, my leadership competencies are crucial for formal leadership in the healthcare units. Efficacy and Comfort as a Leader For this, I must reflect on outcomes from my colleagues, patients, and supervisors. Moreover, my determination to continuous improvement is also an add-on to the list of traits. Altogether, my overall philosophy and preference in leadership is well suited to be a transformational leader where I enhance adaptability and resilience.
