With the rough draft of your nursing comparison paper due this week, a focused review of the basics of APA Style is important. Follow the instructions listed in the bullets below to direct you where to find specific APA guidelines. After you have reviewed the information, share something you learned with your peers. After reviewing APA Basic, In-Text Citation, Reference Citations, and Reference page tabs from the WCU Library, I identified three critical points that encompass APA style citations. First, regardless of their locations in a piece of writing, citations must use the author-date method. This implies that the author’s last name and year of publication should appear in writing. In my rough draft, I used the following in-text citation under the philosophical underpinnings of the theories:
Under constructivism, knowledge is created through communication between various people in society (Green, 2012).
In the above citation, Green is the authors’ last name, while 2012 is the year Green’s work was published.
Secondly, the author-date method only applies when the material cited is not a direct quote. In the above in-text citation, the quoted statement was paraphrased. However, when citing a direct quote, a page number should be included in the in-text citation. In my rough draft, I cited the following quote as follows:
