Response to Peer 1 Discussion: Working with challenging patients

Questions: Response to peer 1 discussion with at least one original peer-reviewed article within the last 5 years. It can be 2 to 3 paragraph. N.B. Avoid making your posts article reviews. I am not looking for a summary of an article. I am looking for new ideas to a topic from peer-reviewed articles. If you rehash and reiterate something that was already stated in a post or something basic that we all already know, then you will not gain points. Do not state whether you agree or not. I am not interested in your opinions; I would rather you write something interesting. You are not writing social media and opinion pieces. Your posts should be free of bias and opinion. Avoid adjectives like "crucial" and "critical" etc. because in APA, those words must be defined, and because they seem opinionated and biased. Merely state findings and facts. Avoid exaggerated comments to your peers like "that was excellent." Just thank them and write your contribution. If your posts are just repeats of nothing new and filling up white space, then you will not gain points. I do not like fluff. This is graduate level class, so I expect graduate level writing and work. If you want credibility and want to be taken seriously in the professional world, especially when there are whole groups of people who doubt the roles of NPs, then you the proof is in the quality in which you present, write, and practice. On that note, in academic and professional circles, if APA is incorrect or sloppy, then you may be lose credibility immediately, and you may lose your audience before you even start. I am trying to prevent that. Peer 1 Discussion Working with challenging patients Borderline personality disorder (BPD) and substance use disorders are more likely to result in crises and social disapproval, and health providers could benefit from training interventions aimed at altering their attitudes and practices when caring for these individuals. Healthcare professionals who have had training in various educational methods, such as dialectical behavioral techniques (DBT), have demonstrated enhanced attitudes towards individuals afflicted with borderline personality disorder (BPD) and addictions to substances. (Fuehrlein et al., 2021). The ratings of providers' stigma-related attitudes were significantly lower than their pre-existing countertransference beliefs. Participating in educational therapies based on cognitive therapy techniques (CBT) and psychoanalytic therapy resulted in significant improvements in attitudes, both immediately and for two years after training. They plan to use the abilities they've gained to treat other persons with mental problems. (Klein et al., 2022). Training mental health providers to prioritize empathy in their therapeutic practice, creating a professional therapeutic environment for clients, and equipping them with evidence-based training to enhance their skills can enhance mental health professionals' attitudes toward caring for individuals with mental health issues (Klein et al., 2022).
