Nurses working in the United States should have the minimum requirements desired for well-achieved nurse practitioners in the country. The individuals should also meet the anticipations in the scope of practice. The nurse practice Act in the country is strict on the levels of achievement for the nurses to ensure proper health care for its citizens. In this case, the nurses have to adhere to the regulations stipulated by the Act without any cases of deviation as the health of the population is a priority to the state. Also, the nurses should have various competencies that help them in improving their works and creating a gap for various opportunities in the profession. Finally, nurse leaders should possess some essential qualities to enhance efficiency in the field since the adopted culture is passed to the incoming trainees in nursing. The nurse practitioners in the United States should achieve various competencies and leadership skills to ensure consistent protecting and advancing the scope of practice in health care provision.
Scope of nurse’s practice in the United States
I intend to practice my nursing career in the United States after graduation. In this case, I have to get conversant with the scope of practice in the country to enhance efficiency during the working period. The scope and standard of practice for nurses in the United States involve various guidelines in relation to the nurses in practice and the patients anticipating the best services of the health care professionals. First, all the registered and advanced practice nurses comprise of educated and titled individuals who can maintain active licensure to practice nursing to the desired levels, as per the requirements of the state (American Nurses Association, n.d.). The nurses have the duty of taking care of all patients as dictated in the regulatory practice that, they should offer practice wherever a patient is in need of care irrespective of the distance and geographical location.
Nurses in the United States offer care to individuals, groups, families, and communities and they should always advocate the welfare of the populations in their practice. The care instituted by nurses is described in the definition of their practice. Nursing is the promotion of the health and abilities, prevention of ailments injuries, facilitation of relief through healing and curbing of suffering through diagnosis and treatment of human response in various incidences (American Association of Nurse Practitioners, 2020). Nurses have to focus on achieving the various objectives desired in their field of operation. The achievement in the field depends on the ultimate desire of an individual of implementing the nursing knowledge, expertise and compassion to help the suffering individuals. The health care licensure in the United States goes through two steps. The state legislature passes the nurse practice act law and then the regulatory bodies create and implement the rules and regulations required to protect the country’s population (American Nurses Association, n.d.). Nurses are required to offer full practice to the extent of their education and to deliver quality care to patients.
Nurse Practitioner Core Competencies
The National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) agreed upon various requirements that every nurse practitioner (NP) must know after graduating from the NP school.
