Implementing mobile health apps at the diabetes department of the health center will significantly improve patients’ health outcomes and clinical workflow. This paper outlines the implementation plan for mobile health apps at the department.
The Practice Environment
The diabetes department at the healthcare center uses traditional methods of collecting, storing, and monitoring patients’ health data. Health workers manually collect and store data in paper-based documentation and records and monitor patients’ health through physical monthly routines. Furthermore, healthcare providers offer patients management guidelines through pamphlets and one-on-one counseling. As a result, it is challenging to monitor patients’ progress regularly unless it is a clinic day. Moreover, patients cannot get health information unless they visit the facility to engage with the healthcare providers. Therefore, implementing mobile health app technology would enhance the comprehensive collection of patient data, healthcare accessibility, availability, and delivery, informed clinical decisions, remote monitoring, and patients’ health outcomes.
Stakeholders Involved
Relevant stakeholders, including mobile health application manufacturers or system developers, government bodies like the Ministry of Health, research institutions, health workers, patients, administrative personnel, and caregivers, could give inputs for designing and implementing appropriate mobile health apps that enhance the ability to meet the needs of the users, satisfy the healthcare center’s care delivery goals and enhance health outcomes. System developers and app manufacturers could provide inputs regarding mobile health apps’ design and features, enabling easy use (Eze et al., 2018). Additionally, government bodies, including politicians and the Ministry of Health, facilitate the creation and implementation of mobile health apps through financial and regulation inputs. In addition, research institutions could give inputs like scientific evidence for using mobile health apps.
Healthcare workers are also significant in giving input about mobile health apps because of healthcare delivery. Furthermore, patients could give inputs regarding mobile health apps because, without them, the technology would have no purpose (Eze et al., 2018). Patients would get help from the apps through health monitoring or access to health information, hence the need to give convenient inputs like language preferences. Additionally, administrative personnel could give inputs through financial resources, a practical work environment, and moral support to the users (Eze et al., 2018). Furthermore, Eze et al.
