Healthcare organizations have evolved over time. These shifts result from recent developments in medical care, theories of leadership, and methods of getting things done. My primary focus will be on the growing phenomenon of “followership” and how it influences healthcare delivery systems. The requirement for constant monitoring of patients necessitated the development of this hierarchical care delivery system (Marques et al., 2023). While this approach did help standardize procedures and reduce errors, it also silenced those working in the trenches of patient care and hindered innovation. For medical professionals, the meaning of “following” has shifted. This shift is easier to implement since nurses are increasingly recognized as vital health care team members.

The concept of “active followership,” which encourages honest dialogue between medical professionals to serve their patients better, is consistent with this approach. Several significant shifts in healthcare groups have resulted from follower-centered projects.
As a result of their efforts, healthcare providers may increase funding for CQI, which would positively impact patient outcomes. Nurses do a better job and help their ...
