Evidence-Based Research Process
Evidence-based practice (EBP) is important in nursing because it helps improve nursing care and, ultimately, patient outcomes. There are several steps involved in the EBP process. These steps are important because they allow nurses and other healthcare professionals to find the most relevant and useful evidence for their practice (Grove & Gray, 2019). Below are the EBP steps:
1 Assess- Observe the patient and identify a clinical/patient issue that needs to be addressed (Cullen et al., 2018). The assessment should identify issues relating to the patient’s care.
2 Ask- Based on the patient’s issues identified during assessment, the next step is to formulate a clinical question. Asking a clinical question allows nurses to identify how they will synthesize the available evidence (Cullen et al., 2018).
