Patient safety is defined as the prevention of harm to patients by creating a care delivery system that uses evidence-based outcomes to improve patient safety protocols. Nurses are directly in contact with patients daily. Therefore, enhancing their ability to provide high-quality care is paramount to improving patient safety. Conversely, medication errors substantially impact patient safety because they jeopardize their wellness levels (Ho & Burger, 2020). Proper medication requires nurses to understand drug administration and its implication for patient safety through sound decision-making and clinical judgment competencies.
Quality and Safety Education in Nursing enable nurses to develop ways to deliver care to ensure high-quality patient safety (Stalter & Mota, 2018). Patient-centered care competencies in QSEN represent how practitioners practice safety and quality standards in patient safety and systems improvement.
