Attrition bias is a selection bias in study samples resulting from systematic differences between study groups in the number and way subjects are lost from an investigation. The differences between the dropouts and those who remain and complete the study are the leading cause of the observations or conclusions and not the outcomes based on the interventions. Based on the reviewed paper, attrition bias increased the rate of dropout among the participants. Numerous approaches could be used to prevent attrition bias. First, the investigators need to create follow-up measures on participants and make any interviews or questionnaires brief. Moreover, attrition bias could be addressed through incentives that would influence the dropouts to re-enroll in the study. The incentives can include cash or gift vouchers. The researchers must also have proper tracking systems to ensure that individuals who enroll in the study are the participants for the entire period.
