Question 1
Attrition bias is a selection bias in study samples resulting from systematic differences between study groups in the number and way subjects are lost from an investigation. The differences between the dropouts and those who remain and complete the study are the leading cause of the observations or conclusions and not the outcomes based on the interventions. Based on the reviewed paper, attrition bias increased the rate of dropout among the participants. Numerous approaches could be used to prevent attrition bias. First, the investigators need to create follow-up measures on participants and make any interviews or questionnaires brief. Moreover, attrition bias could be addressed through incentives that would influence the dropouts to re-enroll in the study. The incentives can include cash or gift vouchers. The researchers must also have proper tracking systems to ensure that individuals who enroll in the study are the participants for the entire period. The investigators could also decrease the dropout rate by having proper reminders for participants using postcards or phone calls ADDIN CSL_CITATION {"citationItems":[{"id":"ITEM-1","itemData":{"ISSN":"2515-446X","author":[{"dropping-particle":"","family":"Nunan","given":"David","non-dropping-particle":"","parse-names":false,"suffix":""},{"dropping-particle":"","family":"Aronson","given":"Jeffrey","non-dropping-particle":"","parse-names":false,"suffix":""},{"dropping-particle":"","family":"Bankhead","given":"Clare","non-dropping-particle":"","parse-names":false,"suffix":""}],"container-title":"BMJ evidence-based medicine","id":"ITEM-1","issue":"1","issued":{"date-parts":[["2018"]]},"page":"21-22","publisher":"Royal Society of Medicine","title":"Catalogue of bias: attrition bias","type":"article-journal","volume":"23"},"uris":["/documents/?uuid=3cd1e844-941d-4272-b0f3-1de1adacf601"]}],"mendeley":{"formattedCitation":"(Nunan et al., 2018)","plainTextFormattedCitation":"(Nunan et al., 2018)","previouslyFormattedCitation":"(Nunan et al., 2018)"},"properties":{"noteIndex":0},"schema":"https://github.com/citation-style-language/schema/raw/master/csl-citation.json"}(Nunan et al., 2018). These incentives would decrease the dropout rate from the study and ensure that more participants complete the study.
Question 2
Audit-C is a comprehensive tool that researchers have used to validate the unhealthy use of alcohol among a particular study group. While the tool has been used extensively, many inconsistencies are associated with the reporting, especially for the chosen study group.
