Teaching structured literacy approaches in the classroom constitutes one strategy that can be applied to assist learners with dyslexia indicators. The teacher can effectively integrate several language components, including morphology, semantics, syntax, syllable instruction, sound-symbol association, and phonology, to prepare learners with dyslexia to interpret words clearly and systematically. Accordingly, the teacher can help learners with dyslexia by adopting one-on-one instructional methods with them (International Dyslexia Association, 2023). This will be vital for the teacher to understand the child’s weakness and respond to them appropriately. The teacher will assist the student to focus on decoding skills as a way of mastering the reading competencies.
Students with reading challenges were unhappy and felt excluded by their peers in the classroom, especially when they mispronounced a word. A teacher can support these learners within the classroom setting by carefully monitoring them when reading to evaluate and identify their emotional challenges. The teacher can then encourage the student to boost their confidence and self-esteem (The Understood Team, 2023). Accordingly, the teacher can mix them with other students by forming a small group of five to expose them to peers interactions instead of individual-based learning.
