Seminal theorists, or theorists who have significantly influenced the understanding of cognitive processes, is where you can start to grasp how students learn. Piaget and Vygotsky are only two of many developmental theorists who have dramatically influenced our understanding of student learning.

Sensorimotor stage

is by asking them questions and assigning them tasks that prompt them to think.


Assimilation

Here a child is able to comprehend new information or experiences and incorporate them into their life.

Here, individuals learn how to balance new information with prior understanding.

An example of this may be identifying the difference between fish and birds, and going further by differentiating them by species.
