The paper assesses if the survey has provided the validity and quality of collecting data by identifying if the survey questions provide a clear understanding of the focus of the research and the types of data that needs to be collected. The paper also evaluates if the survey questions have explicit and concise instructions to enable the respondents to understand the questions easily. Lastly, the study evaluates if the survey has a clear and consistent format and recommends how the survey can be improved to maintain its validity.
Survey Evaluation
The survey's questions have not been arranged in a logical sequence. The changeovers from one question to another are not smooth. For instance, the questions on the age of the respondents and their family size are the lasts ones instead of being the first ones to enable the researcher to know the type of participant they are assessing. The second question should be if the participants take cheese, and if yes, what kind of cheese. The third question should be the circumstances in which the participants take cheese. The first question in a survey sets a tone and influences the responses of the rest of the question. Classifying questions based on similarity makes it easier to complete a questionnaire and makes the participants more comfortable answering the questions. Therefore, the sequence of the questions should be logical to steer the participants towards answering other questions and avoid biases (O'Brien & McCay-Peet, 2017; Yaddanapudi & Yaddanapudi, 2019).
The survey questions are not clear, and they lack concise instructions. For instance, the Likert scale questions are not fully labeled; therefore, the respondents may not comprehend what sections 2 and 4 represent. Similarly, even though the Likert scale enables the researcher to get a rough idea of how the respondents feel or perceive the products, it limits the participants from expressing their opinions. Therefore, the survey's questions should be clear for easy comprehension. The Likert scale should be wide enough to accommodate various thoughts and attitudes to avoid primacy (McLeod, 2019).
Similarly, the survey does not focus on the research and the data to be collected. The questions of the questionnaires seem irrelevant since, according to the introduction of the survey, the researcher wants to identify the participants' ...
