1. JP Morgan Chase is the largest US bank and issues credit cards and makes loans in the stock market. How might issuing credit cards give it an advantage over its rivals on Wall Street?
Interest from credit card deposits is the primary source of income for banks. Interest payments are paid against an account holder's account if they cannot pay off their whole amount in a specific month. The interest paid on any particular account is calculated by multiplying the card's periodic cost by the average daily balance and the number of days in a billing cycle. Fees obtained by retailers are the credit card industry's second-highest stream of revenue. When a merchant receives a credit card charge, a portion of the sale proceeds to the issuing bank of the card, this is known as the interchange pace, and it varies from one card to the next and from one merchant to the next. The more the bank issues credit cards, the more likely customers would be making purchases at retail shops using it, and so they will acquire a small portion of the sale, thus gaining a more competitive edge (Matt, 2015).
