Scenario to use to answer questions below:
Target has decided that is absolutely needs to train their floor managers and with the help of your needs analysis also uncovered that senior level management & outside retail trainers are going to be brought in to help. The majority of the training will be on-the-job and role-based situations, with a mix of classroom sessions and e-learning. Most of the training will be delivered through their senior managers.
Part 1: What is a Design Document? What is included in a Design Document and how is this useful? Please provide a short example of what a design document may look like for those first line manager of Target from Assignment #3.
Part 2: A way to diagnose transfer of training problems or to ensure that transfer occurs is to complete the matrix below: This considers the manager, trainer, and trainee before, during, and after training. Complete each cell of the matrix using the line manager from Target example in Assignment #3.

In today’s business environment, the decision-making is done at a very high-speed therefore it is important that any project is undertaken in a planned manner. The Design Document acts as the starting point for any project. The design document conveys the overview of the project and a high-quality design document ensures that all the requirements of the project are mentioned in the document (Noe, 2013).
In the context of this task, a design document is prepared for developing the training plan for the line managers at Target as these managers must possess the following skills- clear communication, goal orientation, conflict management, performance management, self-confidence, self-control, self-discipline, and leadership (Noe, 2013).
Based on the insights from Noe (2013), the overview of a sample design document is presented below.
* Purpose of the training
* Reason for the training
* How many people will be trained?
* Duration and location of the training (The training is assumed to be conducted over a period of two months and will include two hours of classroom training on every Tuesday and Thursday)
* Overview of the training- The training (classroom and on-the-job) training will be conducted by senior level management and outside retail trainers.
The classroom training will include the following topics
* Vision statement
* SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-bound) goals
* Developing own standards
* Using of accurate language
* Communicating with clarity
* Using affirmative language
