Introduction
The People`s Republic of China or simply, China is a sovereign independent state which is regionally situated in the Asia East, it also boasts of being the most populated country in the world with an approximated population of over 1.4 billion according to latest censuscarried out in the country. Moreover, it is a single party democratic nation which is ruled by communism and has its capital city is beijiing.in addition to the above, china is composed of a total of 22 provinces which make up the nation as well as Taiwan which it directly exercises authority over and recognizes as another province.
Politically china defines its boundaries to cover over 9.5 million square kilometers making it the second largest country in the world after Russia in terms of dry land and third largest in terms of both water and land. Geographically, china is covered with a lot of forests and the Taklimakan and the Gobi deserts which are make it have a diverse climate and topography which is mostly rugged and located on high plateau because of several mountains such the Himalayas, Tian Shan, Karakoram among other mountain ranges. It also boasts of the Yellow Rivers and the Yangtze which are among the world`s largest rivers at top ten of the world. In addition, china is bounded by mighty water bodies which provide all of its water needs including the South China Sea, the Bohai Sea, the yellow sea and the east sea (Laura, 2001).
China has since become the fastest growing economy in the world because of its major reforms regarding the economy which was established in the year 1978 which makes it so far the world`s second largest economy both in terms of growth domestic product, per capita income and purchasing power parity. In addition to these, china is by far the world`s largest exporting country in the world as well as the world`s largestimporter of goods and services. So far, china has been declared as the country with the world`s highest budget when it comes to defense and military spending and the country with the most number of army officers which makes it gain recognition as the potential super power according to political specialists and other analysts. In addition to the above, the republic of china is part of several global organizations associated with world health, wealth and security including the BRICS, WTO, BCIM, and the G-20 which are all multilateral organizations (Laura, 2001).
History and Geography
The first known Chinese establishment as a state can be traced back to the year 221 BC which was established by Shi Huang who was the First Emperor of this nation. During his emperorship, he ensured that the young china had a standard national Chinese language and other units of measurements including currency. This political dynasty however only lasted for about 15 years and was rebelled against after the days preceding the death of Qin Shi Huang.
Following Shi was the Han Dynasty ranked China between 206 BC and 220 AD which led to a lot of development in the country including the culture of china as it is today and even its population as it is. It was during his reign that the military of china was strongly established and made them enter confrontations with nations such as Korea and the Vietnam among others as well as drive its economy to be the leading economy of the time in the world. Nevertheless, the dynasty of Han declined soon after it was overpowered and overthrown by the GoguryeoSui War which occurred between the year 598 and the year 614.
Following the Han dynasty was the Tand and Song dynasties which led china to enter into the golden age, an era which was marked by a lot of technological and cultural growth at a rapid rate. The more famous of the two dynasties was the Song dynasty which succeeded the Tang dynasty because of its many achievements both in the history of china and the world. It is recognized as being the first government to issue paper currency as well as the navy. It also encouraged the growth of art and the study of philosophy which saw it grow to high literacy level compared to its neighbors (Selden, 1999).
Geographically, the republic of china is situated in a diverse climate in which there are water bodies surrounding it and irregular plateaus and plains as well as hills and mountains, for which the highest point is the Sino- Nepalese border and the lowest point is the Turban depression. However, the environment remains the biggest challenge for china remains since the desert of Gobi continues to expand with time at a rate of about a million acres per years.
Political System
In as much as there continues to be relaxation in the social and cultural sectors of the country, there is continuous tightening of politics in china including reduced press freedom and suppressed mass actions, so much so that the law does not offer much h remedy out of crimes against the state, especially to rural Chinese. China has also continued to suppress internet use and freedom of speech as well as effects of the outside world in china`s politics. Notable cases include the accusations of civil rights violation and detention without trial as well as torture to produce information or confess among others. However china...
