Environmental social governance (ESG) is the structure responsible for assessing an organization's business operations and performance on different ethical and sustainability concerns. ESG offers a mechanism to evaluate a firm's risks and opportunities in ethical and sustainability concerns. Various investors apply ESG tools to estimate firms and aid in determining the investment plan of these organizations.
Even though sustainability, ethic, and company governance tends to be seen as a non-financial performance indicator, the responsibilities of an ESG program is to make sure accountability and integration of processes and systems to manage the impacts of the organization, including its implementation of systems (Mathis & Stedman, 2023).
