Although John Donohue might have been an experienced executive leader, when he took over the chief executive officer's position at eBay, he should not have changed the way things were done without consulting all stakeholders. Despite eBay's profit stagnation, ignoring small sellers was not the right decision at the moment (9.2 Strategy in Action, n.d.). As such, Donohue would have changed his plan immediately after noticing that some stakeholders did not like it.
In particular, my knowledge of strategy would have significantly affected my response. When changing an organizational structure, innovating, or improving how things are done, executive leaders should not forget the significance of allowing stakeholder participation (Turner et al., 2017).
