Conduct a business information systems needs analysis. Include the following in your needs analysis:
Review current technologies – what do you have and what do you need?
Consider the desired outcome – how will the organization change over the next several years and what needs must be fulfilled?
Determine options and alternatives – can you update or upgrade existing systems and remain compatible with other systems, must you buy new systems, or can you create solutions internally?
Recommend a solution – what is the best choice given the options and alternatives available?
Decide how to measure effectiveness of the recommended solution – how will you know it worked?
Evaluate resources – what are the costs in time, money, and productivity for the recommended solution for equipment, training, implementation, etc.?
Write a 1- to 2-page summary of your analysis.
Create a 1-page systems change management template for the business information system from your needs analysis. Include the following in your change management template:
How to request system changes
Documenting change requests, approvals, and details
Scope of the change
Change sponsor
Implementation of changes including communication, training, etc.

Business information system need analysis is a concept used in identifying information systems necessary for decision making, meeting customer needs and achieving other business goals. David’s organic farm would like to would like to increase its business operation by 50% in the next two years, receive orders online and have effective delivery channels. To accomplish this, he needs to have an efficient information system (Oakland, J. S., et al 2007)
David’s organic farm has to first market their produce in order to create awareness which will bring in more customers. There are various current technologies available to develop an appropriate system. They currently have an informational website where they manage their procedures, marketing and orders. Since they do not have an information system, they need to acquire one to improve their performance. Once integrated, the system will capture and receive orders electronically from customers hence enhancing convenience and efficiency (Kettinger, W. J., & Grover, V. 1995).
The organic farm will over time requires changes to match and improve their operations. Introduction of the new system may require an IT personnel to provide support services to the system therefore staffing need will arise. Before its implementation, David must ensure that that software evaluation is done to ensure that it serve the purpose and then develop a software criterion. Once the system has been tested and that it will serve the purpose, all necessary resources should be assembled and system is rolled out. The organic farm will have to adopt and embrace these changes. The system will improve efficiency hence productivity will also increase over the years.
