Summary of Professor Chan Zhou’s Video
The video is about Professor Chan Zhou’s “Unraveling Circular RNA Epigenomics by Computational Methods.” The first circular RNA (circRNA) was discovered in 1993. In particular, a circRNA refers to a single-stranded RNA that is different from a linear RNA in that it creates a closed continuous loop. The putative mechanisms of circRNAs in gene regulation include tumor genesis, brain development, translation, and transcription regulation (Zhou, 2022). In addition, RNA modifications add another significant layer of gene regulation.
The video shows that m6A is the most abundant in linear RNA internal modification. Notably, m6A significantly influences various biological systems and illnesses, including diabetes, obesity, cancer, DNA damage, translation, mRNA stability, transcription repression, and stem cell. An AutoCirc is a software that identifies circular RNAs. Indeed, it can identify circRNAs efficiently and accurately (Zhou, 2022). Additionally, the video portrays that m6A-circRNAs are prevalen...
