Introduction
Rediscovery Center is a creative movement in Ireland that connects peoples, ideas, and resources to support and promote greener low-carbon living (Rediscovery Center, 2024). Founded in 2004, as a direct response to rising environmental impacts, the facility acts as a creative space for connecting people, ideas and resources (Rediscovery Center, 2024). A major success attributed to Rediscovery center is the circular economy model. As defined on its website, a circular economy refers to an economy where products stay in circulation for long through repair, reuse, re-innovation and through which waste creation is limited. The goal behind the circular economy is to facilitate Irelands strategic transition to circular economy through education, demonstration and systemwide coloration. Living as an example, rediscovery center repurposed the Ballymun boiler house which is now a circular economy demonstration center and through which the concepts of “to last, to be reused, to be recycled, remanufactured, or made available through new and sustainable business models such as renting, sharing or offering the product as service” exists. Rediscovery Center’s boiler house combines the circular economy ideas inspired by nature with automation systems like opening ventilation systems when pollutants are detected to make an excellent circular economy hub. While the Rediscovery Center is doing well, the Ballymun community would benefit more from a more efficient center in its regeneration efforts which began in 1997 (Lee et al.). By diving more into its operations, we can identify areas that can be improved to benefit the Ballymun community.
