ANALYTICS LOGISTICS DISTRIBUTION MANAGEMENT: Global Bikes MM, WM and SD User Acceptance Testing

Case Study Instructions:

We have been using the Global Bikes SAP System to see how some of our business process are executed in a popular Enterprise Resource Planning System. In prior activities everyone has had full ability and responsibility to complete all transactions in the system to complete the scenario steps, However, as we have noted many times this is not the case in Real Life. With any system there is segmentation of duties based on clear Business Roles and appropriate transaction access is created (by login id) to ensure that everyone operates within their own span of responsibility. In this final activity we are simulating the Real-World situation as different people on your Team will be responsible for different steps in the Global Bikes SD Case. This approach also simulates what you would see and do in a typical User Acceptance Testing process. The Global Bikes System does not allow transactional segmentation but we are doing this through process set-up. As a Team you are assigning specific Step responsibility. Everyone will have the same Login id and Password (assigned by Team) but you are only to do your assigned Step(s). The Professor will monitor Traffic Lights and will report results for the whole Team in Feedback to this Assignment.

With that said, this assignment is individual as you are to report on your own Learning Experience. It is also intended to capture sharing of your experience through our entire Global Bikes Simulation. It will be interesting to have some thoughts related to a comparison of experiences as you went through each subsequent Case Scenario.

Please use the attached template to summarize your Assessment and Lessons Learned with this Simulation Tool.

Note: this is an individual submission - not a team one. I grade each submission on it's own merit. I am asking you to identify your team members and responsibilities in the header. Also, you are to write this from your own perspective but I am expecting you to cover the questions from a Team Actions and Results perspective. You should look outside your own area of responsibility with respect to the User Acceptance Test.

2 Emotional Responses (10 Total Points Available)
Response to Questions about “Emotional Response”

What emotions did you experience while going through the different Global Bikes SAP Scenarios: Navigation, MM, WM and SD? Why?
I was excited reading about and navigating the system as I was curious to know more about the system works. When dealing with Material Management (MM), I was anxious partly because this module is extensive, and one needs to understand how it is linked to other SAP modules. The MM scenario focuses on material data, procurement processes, invoice verification, and is related to different tasks in the supply chain, acquisition of products, goods and or efficient inventory management. Warehouse Management (WM) mainly focuses on warehouses to locations and manage, merchandise entry and exit processes. I gained a more optimistic attitude, understanding how the organizational structure and master data are essential components to ensure successful warehouse management. I was satisfied learning more about Sales and Distribution (SD) as I had already researched on logistics, with S & D being one of the major modules in the SAP.

3 Strategies (10 Total Points Available)
Response to Questionabout “Strategies”

What was your strategy for dealing with each of the Scenarios? How did this change as you went through each one and what was the result?
I familiarized myself with the navigation of the SAP system before to understand the key terms, menu, fields, icons, features and understanding how the SAP system works.
Keeping track of transactions in MM is important as the materials are involved in various modules, where a good understanding of the whole supply chain helps to ensure efficiency when managing resources and materials. In WM, there is evaluation of the effect of picking and removing materials by running different scenarios and choosing what optimizes storage and mat...
