Module 7 Evidence-Based Cases In Healthcare Student’s Name Professor’s Name Institutional Affiliations Course Name and Number Due Date Module 7 Evidence-Based Cases In Healthcare Evidence-based practice has become the commonplace and acceptable way of delivering care within the healthcare profession. Polit and Beck (2022) indicate that diverse researchers have conducted extensive studies examining health issues using standard approaches and uncovered guidelines for desirable outcomes. Such aspects have led to the emergence of clinical practice guidelines informed by the results from various evidence-based studies. When investigating any likely issue, learners can search for appropriate research through recognized databases, retrieve articles, and use them to clarify their management and practice. Thus, this paper explores an article locating method and its analysis to determine validity, research methods used, and applicability in unique contexts. The selected journal article explores the problem of cigarette smoking and the different approaches healthcare providers recommend for overcoming such a health-limiting practice. The research process included identifying databases such as PubMed, PsyclNFo, and MEDLINE, renowned for their collection of health-related materials. Subsequent steps integrated formulating appropriate search terms or phrases using keywords. For instance, using keywords such as “cigarette,” “smoking,” “strategy,” and “cessation,” the researcher devised several search terms, including “cigarette smoking cessation” and “smoking cessation strategy.” The search also used additional filtering techniques, such as limiting the age of the articles to provide results within the last five years. This method minimized the number of articles from the three databases. The final step involved scanning the abstracts of the diverse options and selecting the most applicable one for the issue under investigation. Specific reasons informed the choice of the article by Weng et al. (2020). For instance, it was recently published and presents updated evidence-based findings related to cigarette smoking issues and their management. Unlike many other applicable articles that only provided the abstract, one could access the entire research article of the work. According to Polit and Beck (2022), using approaches such as blinding and minimizing attrition in research studies minimizes threats to a research study’s validity. It also eliminates biases and ensures that the research methods measure the concepts intended by the researcher. Weng et al.’s use of a randomized contro...
