Dr. Ring performed the wrong surgery on a patient. He immediately informed the patient and the hospital when he realized his mistake. Transparency is not always easy, mainly when you are at fault. Dr. Ring took a lot of courage to be honest because the patient could have easily sued him. Moreover, he was at risk of losing his job or having his career discredited for the error. Frankly, most of the outcome was likely hostile, yet he still chose to tell the truth. This move on Dr. Ring's part shows a lot of courage.

His career benefited greatly from his admission of guilt, and the management eventually elevated him to a higher position. Further, he set an excellent example for other surgeons, and many commended him for his act of honesty. Nevertheless, unfortunately, his transparency ruined his career, as his patients lost faith in him and subsequently chose to seek treatment at a different institution.

I believe this level of transparency was necessary since they had not encountered past controversies well. In addition, customers were losing faith in the company, and for Taco Bell to reveal their secret recipe was a significant act to earn back their customers' trust.
