One of the factors that can affect the ability of the firm in the chosen country is whether raw materials for running day to day business are available. If raw materials are not readily available, that might slow the production process of the intended services, thus affecting the running of the firm. Another factor is the transport cost of delivering goods. Transportation affects the firm in a way that some customers may want the service delivered at their doorstep; if the firm is unable to offer such services, then it might lose customers to other firms that provide delivery services.
The land is another factor that can affect the business competition such that a big firm like McDonald’s will require a big square-footage to set up their business. This might prove a challenge since land rates vary in different parts of the country, and there is a need to look for cheaper land that still meets their target market. Other factors include labor, security, and disposal of waste products from the firm.
Q2. What firm specific strategies may or have helped the firm to get an edge in the country market you have chosen?
One of the strategies that helped the firm get an edge is offering of discount prices once in a while on selected services. One of the discount services offered includes providing free delivery services on every 1st Sunday of the month. This strategy has helps not lose our customers to rival firms within the region. Giving free buying vouchers has also been a boost in terms of attracting and maintaining customers.
Additionally, giving job opportunities to the unemployed people within the region is a significant boost in gaining an edge over our rivals. The more you give back to the community, the more trust and respect you get, which ensures that you have a steady flow of customers, which in return, prompts the company to offer better services. Besides, providing community services is a way of ensuring that the company always stays ahead of its major competitors.
