Responce on A Stick with Two Ends by Alan Dershowitz

Article Response   I agree with the article “A Stick with Two Ends” by Alan Dershowitz that there should be a balance between freedom and security. This is because the author argues that technology is important because it helps in enhancing security because things such as tapping phone calls from potential terrorist assists in thwarting the threat.  However, it can also be misused to violate individual’s freedoms. For instance, Dershowitz gives the example of the recent case where the Bush Administration bypassed FISA requirements and tapped into hundreds of international messages, emails, and phone calls from hundreds of people residing in the United States. The project, dubbed “Special Collection Program” expanded massively such that at any given moment about 500 phone calls and emails of Americans were being tapped.
