Chiasson, M. W., & Davidson, E. (2005). TAKING INDUSTRY SERIOUSLY IN INFORMATION SYSTEMS RESEARCH. MIS Quarterly, 29(4) , 591-605.
In this article, the authors have provided an analysis of how much attention does “industry” receives in relation to the research of Information System. Based on their analysis of journals (from MIS Quarterly and Information Systems Research) pertaining to this issue, they found out that there is little attention being given to the concept. In line with this, the author of this paper, have reviewed their analytical framework, the evidences, the data, as well as the sampling method and found out that their argument is indeed valid. This therefore, validates their conclusion that by focusing more on industry, then the current boundaries recognized in the research of Information Systems could be further widened and be more inclusive with regards to other topics that could potentially come up in future researches.

This author of this article argues that the incorporation of the theory of “evolutionary psychology” in current research and applications of Information Systems could potentially be the “key to many counterintuitive predictions of behavior toward technology”. The author argued this because of the well established fact that many of the instincts that we have and are useful to our survival are developed through time and almost also incomprehensible through our “conscious awareness”. Thus, by incorporating evolutionary psychology, the authors argue that technology (especially Information systems) could have greater potentials.
