Therapeutic Nursing Relationship about Trust Concept Student Name Institutional Affiliation Course Code Instructor Date Galuska, L. (2016). Advocating for Patients: Honoring Professional Trust. AORN Journal, 104(5), 410–416. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.aorn.2016.09.001 The journal explores how nurses establish therapeutic relationships and advocate for vulnerable patients. The article's results show that advocacy is an ethical obligation for nurses. Trust is built through relationships where patients feel nurses are competent, caring, and committed to their wellbeing. Perioperative nurses must quickly build trust through introductions, reassurance, and keeping families informed. All nurses consciously advocate by giving voice, communicating, providing comfort, and maintaining safety standards. Despite different settings, nurses fulfill professional obligations by honoring the trust placed in them through therapeutic relationships where they know and advocate for patients. The article is credible, having been written by Dr. Lee Galuska, a nursing director with academic credentials and lending expertise on the topic. She has been in the nursing field for over 30 years in various educational, leadership and professional roles. She has a PhD. In nursing leadership development, a specialty that she has continued her focus on, throughout her glittering career. She has had a hand in the professional development of over 3500 nurses, and continues to trailblaze in the field. This makes her quite a credible and authoritative voice when it comes to nursing. However, the article has a shortfall by describing only one patient case study; the authors could have given more examples of applying the concept. This would have made it even more comprehensive and accommodative for all types of medical professionals. This however, doesn’t water down the important contribution that the journal plays in the nursing field; since it helps to provide a model that can be used by nurses to foster greater and better relationships with their patients. It is an important source for both the experienced professional and a newcomer. Crotty, G., & Doody, O. (2015). Therapeutic relationships in intellectual disability nursing practice. Learning Disability Practice, 18(7), 25–29. https://doi.org/10.7748/ldp.18.7.25.e1660 The article explores the therapeutic relationship in intellectual disability nursing. It highlights the nurse's role and meaning of the relationship by identifying four key components: engagement, empathy, communication, and trust. The article argues that trust helps patients express feelings, adhere to treatment, and motivate healthy behaviors. Published in a peer-reviewed journal, the source seems credible. The author uses research evidence to support claims about the centrality of trust in the nurse-patient relationship. Wen it comes to the authors, Gerrard Crotty is a registered intellectual disability nurse in Limerick, Ireland; and is working with the Daughters of Charity St Vincent’s Centre. He has had a number of other journalistic publications, all peer reviewed. Owen Doody on the other hand, is a lecturer at the University of Limerick. He has worked with to support efforts in research projects and is currently an important part of three journals that deal with disability. He also has experience in supervising masters and doctorate students. As can be seen, the authors of this journal are respected voices in the field, which by exte...
